The role of Microsoft Modern Work & AI Consultant is to be a senior technical and consultative resource within ITRM, specialising in Microsoft 365, Azure, Copilot, and AI-driven solutions.
This role involves owning delivery workstreams, collaborating with internal teams, and working closely with customers to understand business challenges and translate these into practical, scalable solutions aligned to ITRM’s Modern Work and AI offerings.
As a Modern Work & AI Consultant, your responsibilities extend beyond implementation. You will act as a trusted advisor to customers, lead engagements across Microsoft 365 and AI technologies, and contribute to presales, solution design, and service development.
You will report to the Director of AI & Cyber Security and act as a second-in-command within this function, supporting both delivery and strategic direction.
As a Microsoft Modern Work & AI Consultant, your responsibilities will extend well beyond those of a typical consultant. You will not only deliver project-based work to enhance and optimise the customer's IT environment, but also take ownership of entire workstreams, ensuring end-to-end delivery with full technical oversight.
Drawing on significant experience within a fast-paced IT team, you will provide expert support across a broad range of technical solutions, mentor and guide less experienced colleagues, and act as a trusted advisor to customers by translating complex business requirements into effective technical strategies. Understanding business processes and how that affects efficient system use, as well as the opportunities of transformational technologies such as AI, Automation and data intelligence, will be key to the role's focus.
You will play a key role in customer engagements, contributing to the creation of statements of work, low-level designs, and comprehensive technical documentation, whilst ensuring a seamless transition of projects into business-as-usual operations. Your commercial awareness will enable you to assess the impact of scope changes and communicate implications effectively to both customers and internal stakeholders.
This is a demanding technical position, which calls for excellent customer service skills, the ability to articulate solutions clearly and confidently to end users and possess a detailed technical knowledge across a broad range of technologies.
The successful candidate will form part of the Technical Services team, leading projects, providing feedback on current processes, driving continuous improvement within the team and ultimately helping management to deliver services as consistently and efficiently as possible. In addition to this, as a Senior Technical consultant, you will also play a key role in our AI solutions and services to customers, including the definition of the service and the implementation of defined services.

Consulting & Delivery
* Work with customers to understand business requirements and translate these into technical solutions
* Deliver project-based work focused on Microsoft 365, Copilot, and AI workloads
* Produce high-quality low-level designs, implementation documentation, and handover materials
* Ensure the successful transition of solutions into business-as-usual operations
* Design and implement Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform and Microsoft-led AI use cases across Microsoft 365 workloads
* Support AI adoption strategies, governance models, and security controls
* Contribute to the development of internal AI frameworks and tooling
Leadership
* Mentor junior consultants and support team development
* Assist in defining technical standards and delivery frameworks

Technical skills
* Demonstrates substantial experience with Microsoft 365, including proficiency across key components of the platform.
* Has expertise in managing and supporting Exchange Online, ensuring reliable email communication within organisations.
* Possesses in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Teams, facilitating collaborative workspaces and effective communication.
* Experienced in SharePoint Online, enabling document management and team collaboration.
* Skilled in Intune and Endpoint Management, maintaining device security and compliance.
* Proficient in Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), ensuring secure identity and access management.
* Has hands-on experience with PowerApps and PowerAutomate, automating workflows and enhancing productivity.
* Demonstrates practical experience using Microsoft Copilot to streamline tasks and improve efficiency.
* Has a working understanding of Microsoft Foundry, supporting innovation within the Microsoft ecosystem.
* Exhibits strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, essential for resolving complex technical issues.
* Has a proven track record of delivering consultancy services in customer-facing roles, demonstrating professionalism and expertise.
* Displays a strong understanding of technical compliance frameworks, including ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, NIS2, and DORA.
* Maintains a security-focused mindset and keeps abreast of current market trends and developments in the field.
* Demonstrates knowledge of scripting technologies and platforms for automating tasks and system management.
* Displays strong commercial acumen and is able to present business value to all levels within an organisation, from C-level executives to end users.
* Capable of managing projects from initiation to completion, working alongside a project manager and handling full documentation, RAID logs, and budget management.
