Night Security Team Leader – Lister Hospital, Stevenage
We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable and professional Night Security Team Leader.
Working Hours & Conditions
* Shift: 19.00 to 07.00 (4 on 4 off plus overtime may differ as per client request).
* 3‑month probation period.
Key Responsibilities
* Follow handover procedures and review information from previous shifts.
* Act as the first point of contact for emergency and escalation procedures.
* Secure the site by controlling access and egress, and carrying out security patrols to deter crime.
* Identify hazards, react to medical incidents and respond appropriately.
* Ensure the control room/gatehouse is kept clean and tidy for the next shift.
* Operate the control room/gatehouse and reception systems.
* Maintain a high level of physical fitness required for patrolling.
* Liaise with NHS staff and respond to emergency bleeps.
* Handle high‑risk situations and interactions with members of the public in the hospital.
* Restrict patients if necessary when they become violent.
* Protect NHS staff, equipment and other patients.
* Conduct security‑related drills and exercises.
* Attend further training as requested by the client.
* Create lesson plans and other training materials.
* Ensure staff wear the Carlisle branded uniform.
* Develop testing and evaluation processes.
* Instruct approved security officer training and provide training for trainers.
* Meet with client team members to identify training needs and oversee development programs.
* Act as Security Manager when required.
* Develop, implement and monitor security officer training programmes.
* Assist in policy design with the client and test operationally for effectiveness.
* Develop rotational shift training, including identification of an officer to assist for a period to stabilise and enhance good practice within the teams for consistency.
Qualifications & Attributes
* Provide checkable work history for the past five years and meet UK Home Office Security Screening Standards.
* Proven work experience as a Security Officer or in a customer service role.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Excel and Word.
* Previous experience with office equipment.
* Professional attitude and appearance.
* Solid written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and professional when issues arise and deal with patients.
* Multitasking and time‑management skills.
