We have an exciting new role become available for a Transport Co-ordinator to work a temporary contract with South Gloucestershire Council.
This role will be based at their Broad Lane Offices in Yate. Working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week, hybrid working.
About the role
Reporting to the Client Transport Manager the Client Transport Co-ordinator is responsible for the day to day co-ordination of passenger transport services for a range of clients of the Council including home to school transport, other vulnerable young people and adults. This will involve liaising with establishments, contractors, clients and their parents / carers to ensure that transport services run smoothly and that client needs are met in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
The post holder will also assist in the process of setting up the supply frameworks for the provision of transport by external contractors and the day to day management of any contracts under that framework for the delivery of transport, liaising and negotiating with service providers over contractual, operational and other matters.
Other duties include:-
To research, identify and obtain specialist equipment for individual special requirements (e.g. car seats/harnesses) and the carriage of wheelchairs, and ensure that adequate training is carried out where appropriate.
To provide advice and assistance to officers, Members, consultants and other outside parties regarding compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
To assist in the investigation of accidents or other reported incidents on provided transport, including issues relating to the safeguarding of transport users and carry out pro-active monitoring of technical and contract conditions as directed by the Client Transport Manager.
To assist in the delivery of the Council's Strategic Emergency Transport Plan should an incident occur that results in the activation of the planRole Requirements:
Experience of Administration.
Experience in working in a transport related field, ideally involving passenger transport provision. Desirable not essential.
Knowledge of transport related legislation and regulations particularly as they relate to passenger transport services Desirable not Essential
The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines to deliver front line operational services.
You will be able to demonstrate a customer service focus
You will have experience of dealing with external contractors and work with external organisations
You will possess good IT skills and also have experience of using more bespoke transport IT systems
