We’re supporting our client, a global, leading injection moulding manufacturer based in Hull, who are looking for an NPI Project Engineer to join their growing team. The successful NPI Project Engineer will have previous experience in injection mould toolmaking and tool project management.
Job Summary
As an NPI Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing new business development project support and managing product development for new projects through to series production, ensuring adherence and completion of the APL APQP process.
Responsibilities
* Support design and tooling related activities for internal cross-functional teams to ensure NPI projects are on time, in full and on budget
* Liaise with customers and third-party companies on part and tool design and development related matters
* Liaise with customers on all matters project related, ensuring that project milestones are met and maintained
* Manage changes through Engineering change process
* Support NPI & Operations process teams in completing detailed and effective 'DOE' on new product processes
* Maintain required records for your NPI activities - timing plans, trackers, status reports etc
* Provide fringe design and technical support for the Operations team as necessary
* Deliver agreed KPI and business objectives
* Work closely with Quality members to ensure all elements of the PPAP process are completed on time and to the required level
* Champion and enhance departmental documented processes and promote adherence to IATF16949 and ISO14001
* Support operational initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring housekeeping and quality standards are maintained
* Carry out DFM and Moldflow studies
* Take responsibility for project management of tooling (in-house and externally) through quotation stage, sourcing, design, development and launch into our production facility
* Awareness of the responsibility to yourself and others under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Drive continuous improvement both within NPI and cross-departmentally
About You
* Injection Mould tooling and Mould tool manufacture knowledge
* Experience of 3D CAD models including PMI and of 2D Drawings
* Knowledge of Injection Moulding Process
* Knowledge of Plastic Welding Processes (Vibration / Spin / Ultrasonic)
* Knowledge of Polymer materials
* Autonomous Management
* Structured, highly organised and disciplined
* Personable with an ability to build close relationships at all levels including both customers and suppliers
* Injection Mould Toolmaking and Tool project Management experience
* Mould Tool and component design experience
* Project Management experience including customer facing activities
* Time served Project/Tooling/Design Engineer with Injection Moulding Bias
* Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering
