Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for SEMH at Astrea Academy Sheffield
Overview
The successful candidate will champion scholars who require additional support within the broad area of SEMH. The HLTA will work across all subject areas to improve the learning experience for scholars and to ensure barriers to learning are reduced without lowering expectations. Invisible intervention is at the heart of our teaching approach, embedding additional support for scholars with special educational needs within the core curriculum through common classroom practices to promote belonging and success.
Responsibilities
* Champion and support scholars with SEMH across all subject areas
* Contribute to a quality first teaching offer with invisible interventions embedded in the core curriculum
* Support a warm, disciplined, disruption-free learning environment
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high expectations and inclusive practice
What We’re Looking For
* Education Experience: Experience within an educational setting, ideally working with Key Stage 3 and 4
* Experience with SEMH: Previous experience working with scholars with a broad area of need SEMH
* Values-Driven: Alignment with our values and mission; fit with our culture
* Passionate Educator: Belief that all children can achieve regardless of starting point, background, or needs
