As a NEET Support Apprentice, you will excel as part of a team that provides information, advice, and guidance to young people, helping them transition into further education, training, employment with training, or an apprenticeship. This important role helps to ensure that Leeds City Council meets it’s statutory responsibilities to track and support our NEET and Not Known young people as well as achieve our .

About the role
As our new NEET Support Apprentice, you will work closely with the Tracking Co-Ordinator to learn all facets of the tracking role. This includes the statutory responsibility of reporting on and supporting young people in Leeds who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and those whose status is Not Known.
This position is a key part of our Pathways team, which provides NEET young people with Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance to help them access appropriate and sustainable training and educational opportunities.

Job Description
Job Purpose Undertake daily telephone tracking work to ascertain the status of young people in line with the statutory duties of LA’s, this is a largely an office based role with some outreach work as required. The role carries the expectation that you undertake and complete a level 2 in Customer Services adhering to specific timescales and expectations
Responsibilities
9. Offer young people initial information, advice and guidance on post-16 options
10. Proactively refer young people to the city centre/localities drop in locations
11. Engage with any parent/carer contacted by telephone and encourage them to support young people to make contact with the Leeds Pathways Support Team (LPST)
12. Use Technology/social media to track young people, where appropriate
13. Work closely with the data team as directed by the Tracking Coordinator
14. Update electronic files in line with CCIS user rules
15. Support the team with NEET/Not Known sweeps as appropriate.
16. Explore partnerships and develop them to improve outcomes for young people
17. Support the Tracking Coordinator in ensuring that performance targets are being met
18. Use the Leeds Practice model which includes a Restorative Practice approach
19. Be proactive in safeguarding and promoting welfare of Children & Young People

Qualifications No formal qualifications are required on commencement however it is an essential requirement of the role that you commence the Level 2 in Customer Services and to have completed this qualification within 2 years of appointment

37. Knowledge of, and evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and develop positive links with other services/partners
