An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to join our Suffolk team. You will come from a Civil Engineering or Construction background.
Key Accountabilities
The Senior Planner will manage the Planning and Programming function in selected key bids across Tender, Preconstruction and Construction stages, liaising internally with the Galldris team, and externally with the Client, Consultants, and other Key Stakeholders to produce well-considered, professional and accurate plans and programmes.
* Lead the planning function on selected projects, producing achievable methodologies and programmes for Pre-Construction and Construction activities.
* Create, maintain, review, and administer construction schedules and planning deliverables, including planning philosophy, presentations and reports.
* Provide technical assistance with planning and zoning activities, identifying scope, constraints and contract requirements, and collaborate with the team and supply chain to establish the programme critical path.
* Review and analyse the critical path with the wider team as necessary, communicating effectively throughout bid, tender, pre-construction and construction phases.
* Apply resource levelling techniques and present the project programme and sequence in detail or high level as appropriate.
* Implement and monitor overall planning strategy and timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities.
* Identify and alert the wider team on any issues affecting project programme delivery.
* Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Project Lead, Client and Project Team, including periodic progress reporting.
* Undertake other duties commensurate with this position and comply with company policies & procedures.
* Think commercially and focus on activities that deliver real value for the projects.
Experience and Knowledge
* Operational experience as a site engineer/site agent, combined with previous experience in planning Civil / Infrastructure / Structure projects.
* Proficiency in planning techniques and required planning toolsets.
* Understanding of tender documents, contract documents and specifications.
* Knowledge of methods of planning, programming, and progress monitoring.
* Risk and opportunity management with particular reference to planning programming.
* Understanding of construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.
* In-depth understanding of the Planning requirements of JCT and NEC contracts.
* Experience with Civils, Groundworks, and Structures.
Skills
* IT literate – proficient in P6 and Asta Powerproject.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate with clients and internal staff.
* Meticulous, organized, proactive with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Self‑motivated and enthusiastic with strong organisational and planning skills.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience in the construction industry.
* Recognised Construction or technical discipline qualifications.
