Müller UK & Ireland includes:
1. Müller Milk & Ingredients: aims to be Britain’s private label dairy leader, producing branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter, and ingredients with a network of dairies and depots servicing the country.
2. Müller Yogurt & Desserts: the UK’s leading yogurt manufacturer, responsible for brands like Müller Corner, Müllerlight, Müller Bliss, Müller Rice, FRijj, and Müller Kefir Smoothie, and producing chilled desserts under license from Mondelez International.
We’re recruiting a Customs Controller for a fixed term of 15 months at our Market Drayton head office. The role involves collating data, verifying information, liaising with colleagues & third parties for the timely submission of import and export customs declarations, and managing daily operational and administrative tasks to support 7-day week coverage.
Weekly hours are 40, Monday to Friday, with shifts from 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, or 9am-5pm on a rota basis, with occasional Saturdays. Hybrid working (3 days on-site) will be offered after training.
Key Responsibilities:
Customs Compliance - Exports
* Liaise with Culina for export data and prepare paperwork for vet inspections and export health certificates.
* Prepare export instructions and pro forma invoices.
* Apply for batch Export Health Certificates to ensure supply continuity.
* Coordinate with Customs Brokers, vets, hauliers, and authorities to ensure correct documentation.
* Monitor export email inbox, resolve queries, and escalate as needed.
* Prepare shipment samples, communicate with R&D, book with parcel companies, and provide paperwork.
* Complete supplementary declarations on TSS portal monthly.
* Support and train new team members and assist senior colleagues with ad hoc tasks.
Customs Compliance – Imports
* Review supplier info and prepare import instructions.
* Monitor deliveries, liaise with Material Control, Procurement, and Suppliers.
* Manage customs email inbox, resolve queries, and escalate when necessary.
* Provide clearance info to parcel operators.
* Handle paperwork for re-export of returned/rejected goods.
* Support with ad hoc data requests and monitor UK Global Tariff changes.
Other Tasks
* Verify purchase invoices, add GL codes, and process GRNs.
* Raise purchase requisitions and process invoices.
* Complete daily Workflow tasks, assign commodity codes, and document processes for audits.
* Support new team members.
Skills and Experience:
* 1-2 years’ experience in a Customs environment.
* Proficient in Word and Excel.
* Ability to stay updated on tax legislation.
* Accurate, detail-oriented, with strong prioritization skills.
* Resourceful, proactive, and team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
