Long Term Futures are recruiting for a Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant to join a small Alternative Provision in Burton upon Trent (DE14), supporting learners with behavioural needs, SEMH challenges, and additional barriers to learning. You will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education by providing targeted academic and emotional support within a structured and nurturing environment.
About the Role:
Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for learners with behavioural and SEMH needs
Support pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes
Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes emotional regulation and personal development
Support learners' academic progress whilst developing confidence, resilience, and independence
Contribute to behaviour management strategies and positive intervention approaches across the provisionAbout You:
Experience supporting young people with additional needs, behavioural challenges, or SEMH needs within an education, youth work, or care setting
You must have a full driving licence and be willing to obtain business insurance
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with learners
A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success
