We are recruiting an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support a major customer project based in Bristol. This is a 12-month contract, Outside IR35, requiring full-time onsite presence.
The role will report directly to the Project Director, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the SHE Business Unit Director, and will play a key role in the strategic delivery and implementation of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) programmes across the project.
Role Purpose
As a key member of the Health & Safety team, you will partner closely with the Project Director, subject matter experts, and the wider workforce to deliver effective SHE leadership, drive cultural change, and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Deploy strategic SHE improvements and initiatives to strengthen project-wide SHE management systems
*
Build clear HSE accountabilities across operational teams to drive a step change in safety performance
*
Support project teams at all levels to implement best practices and new SHE procedures
*
Coach and guide teams to embed a strong learning and development culture
*
Develop, implement, and administer SHE policies, programs, and procedures
*
Conduct audits and assessments to identify gaps and development needs, and implement actions to close them
*
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental legislation
*
Work with external consultants to assess SHE program effectiveness and support continuous improvement
*
Execute and manage a company-focused SHE programme across the project
Technical & Regulatory Experience
*
Ability to conduct HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA assessments
*
Experience supporting CDM duties as a client representative
*
Experience in a battery testing environment
*
Experience in a hydrogen testing environment
Required Experience & Qualifications
*
Degree in Risk, Safety Management, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
*
4–8 years’ experience in a Safety, Health & Environmental leadership role
*
Strong understanding of UK/local safety, health, and environmental legislation
*
Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing sensitive issues
*
Experience working across multiple sites and with senior leadership teams

Calm and effective under pressure with competing priorities
*
Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
*
Flexible and professional, able to represent the business internally and externally
