Mechanical Estimator Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire (commutable from Coventry, Corby, Wellingborough, Daventry, Towcester, Rugby) Employment Type: Permanent We are working with a successful and rapidly expanding M&E contractor who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the addition of a Mechanical Estimator. Based in Northampton, this contractor delivers a wide variety of projects across the leisure, residential, education, retail, and commercial sectors, and due to continued growth they can offer a clear career development pathway, a stable pipeline of work, and a supportive team culture. Responsibilities: * Represent the business during client meetings, tender interviews, and site visits, acting as a professional ambassador of the company. * Produce detailed and accurate mechanical tenders for both pre-designed and design & build projects, ensuring cost plans and schedules are commercially robust. * Conduct full take-offs, assess drawings and specifications, and liaise with supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations. * Contribute technical expertise to continuously improve estimating processes and promote best practice across the team. * Work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior management to ensure tenders are aligned with operational delivery capabilities. * Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients and consultants to secure repeat business and strengthen the company’s reputation in the market. Requirements: * Proven track record in mechanical estimating within the building services/M&E industry. * Strong technical understanding of mechanical installations, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. * High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Previous experience estimating projects in the leisure, residential, education, and retail sectors is highly advantageous.
