Main duties and responsibilities

1. Manage delivery, processing and approval of weekly and monthly payroll for Decora and other Mzuri Group companies.
2. In conjunction with the Senior Payroll Officer, undertake annual tasks including life assurance and health cash plan renewals, PAYE settlement, P11d submissions, salary reviews and annual leave entitlements.
3. Liaise with 3rd party payroll, insurance brokers, health cash plan and pension providers.
4. Manage monthly payroll tasks to include health cash plan joiners / leavers, charitable giving, childcare vouchers.
5. Manage the payroll inbox, ensuring queries are responded to and resolution provided in a timely manner.
6. Ensure Decora and the wider Mzuri Finance teams are provided with payroll reports for month end reconciliations.
7. Provide payroll data to external bodies including auditors and insurers when required.
8. Manage employer obligations in relation to pensions, weekly administration and auto-enrolment.
9. Ensure statutory payments e.g. SSP, SMP and SPP are calculated and processed.
10. Liaise closely with the Senior Payroll Officer and the wider HR team to ensure payroll related administration throughout the full employee life cycle are completed e.g. new starter processes, statutory payments, annual leave and leaver processes.
11. Ensure the administration of the Time and Attendance System is completed accurately e.g. absence reporting, shift schedules, annual leave records etc.
12. Weekly and monthly headcount reporting and updating employee logs.
13. Administration of return to work processes.
14. General Payroll / HR administration and processing system changes and updates.
15. Processing agency workers timesheets.
16. Updating payroll work processes and SOPs.
17. Keep up to date with any legislative or compliance changes to payroll.
18. Contribute to payroll projects as directed by line manager and in line with HR objectives.
19. Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Essential requirements
20. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a payroll function in a medium to large business
21. Have demonstrable understanding of employer payroll, compliance and pension obligations
22. Knowledge of Payroll, HR and Time and Attendance systems
23. Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office Excel
24. Confidential in all matters
25. Professional approach
26. Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
27. Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
28. Ability to work on own initiative
29. Ability to work in, and adapt to, a rapidly changing environment
Desirable requirements
30. Previous experience of payroll software packages
31. Working knowledge of matters relating to terms and conditions of employment and general employment legislation
32. Experience gained within a medium to large manufacturing or FMCG environment
33. Knowledge of PAMS and North Time Data / Workflow Infinity
