About the Role We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take full responsibility for all health, safety and welfare matters across a large, complex visitor attraction site. This role ensures full statutory compliance while creating a safe environment for employees, contractors and guests. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all health, safety and welfare compliance across the site. Ensure adherence to UK/EU legislation, case law and industry best practice. Develop, implement and regularly review H&S policies, procedures and systems. Advise Directors and senior management on H&S strategy, incident reporting and preventative actions. Conduct and oversee risk assessments (including COSHH, manual handling, lone working, animal risks, young workers, pregnant workers and contractors). Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; report findings with corrective actions. Manage all H&S audits, inspections and compliance checks, producing detailed reports and recommendations. Oversee safety equipment provision and maintenance (e.g., alarms, extinguishers, ladders, first aid supplies). Advise on and monitor PPE requirements and compliance. Deliver and coordinate H&S training (induction, first aid, fire safety, IOSH, etc.). Line manage the First Aid Team to ensure professional and timely support. Liaise with insurers, HSE and local authorities as required. Manage contractor safety compliance and documentation. Support legal and insurance case preparation relating to guest or employee incidents. Promote a proactive safety culture across all departments. Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and standards. Essential Qualifications Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ, BSc, MSc or equivalent). Essential Experience Proven experience managing H&S across a large, high-footfall site. Demonstrable experience of proactive risk management and incident investigation. Experience advising senior leadership teams. Desirable: Experience within leisure, tourism or visitor attractions. Key Skills Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and compliance frameworks. Excellent investigative and analytical skills. Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement ability. High attention to detail with strong documentation and record-keeping skills. Additional Information This is a 365-day operation; weekend and bank holiday working is required on a rota basis. The role may involve visible presence on site; a professional and guest-focused manner is essential at all times.
