Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a point of contact for patients, acting as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, and other medical staff, and undertaking associated administrative duties.
Key responsibilities include:
* Booking appointments and recalls in line with Practice Policy
* Ensuring efficiency of appointment system and monitoring flow of patients into consulting and treatment rooms
* Explaining Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover
* Registering new patients and temporary residents
* Advising patients of relevant charges for private services, accepting payment, and issuing receipts
* Responding to queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors
* Taking requests for home visits in line with agreed procedures
* Actioning requests for ambulance transportation and recording details, in line with agreed procedures
* Processing pathology results in line with agreed procedures
* Ensuring reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous relevant experience of reception/customer care
* Previous relevant experience of primary care
* Previous experience of undertaking work of a confidential nature
* NVQ Level 2/3 Customer Care or equivalent
* Evidence of the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Evidence of an understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality and discretion
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
The salary for this role is £24,029.28 to £24,819.60 a year, which is the full-time equivalent.
