Wychwood Surgery is looking for a reliable and experienced qualified Dispenser to join our friendly and supportive team. The role supports the safe and efficient dispensing of medications and works closely with GPs, the dispensary team and reception to ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and patients receive a high standard of care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Process repeat and acute prescriptions in a timely and accurate manner
* Dispense medications in accordance with prescriptions, standard operating procedures and legal requirements
* Ensure all medications are correctly labelled and checked prior to issue
* Liaise with GPs and other clinicians regarding prescription queries or discrepancies
* Provide a professional and courteous service to patients, responding to queries and requests appropriately
* Manage and prioritise workload to ensure safe and efficient dispensing
* Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times
* Support stock control, including ordering, receipt, storage and rotation of medications
* Ensure the dispensary is kept clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards
* Identify and report any dispensing errors, incidents or near misses in line with practice procedures
* Participate in audits and support quality improvement within the dispensary

* Work collaboratively with the dispensary, reception and clinical teams
* Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
* Communicate effectively with all members of staff to ensure continuity of service

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (Dispensing) or equivalent qualification
* Previous experience working in a dispensing environment
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic IT skills
Desirable Qualifications
* Previous experience in a GP dispensing practice
* Knowledge of clinical systems (e.g. EMIS)
* Understanding of repeat prescribing processes
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) – applicants must have a current DBS check or be willing to obtain one as required by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975
