The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare organisation dedicated to caring for donkeys worldwide. We are seeking an empathetic and professional Emotional & Mental Wellbeing (EMW) Practitioner to join our Wellbeing Team. The role involves providing specialist emotional and mental health support to staff and volunteers, offering advice to volunteer Mental Health First Aiders, and liaising with external agencies to ensure comprehensive support. Applications are welcome from both qualified and trainee practitioners.
About you:
* Recognised Level 5 (or equivalent) training or qualification in applied psychosocial interventions (e.g., coaching, counselling, psychotherapies, CBT, EFT, NLP).
* At least 100 hours of successful practice in psychosocial interventions.
* Mentally Health First Aid accreditation or equivalent.
* Experience in staff development and training delivery.
* Knowledge of current developments in mental wellbeing practices.
* Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
* Skills in negotiating ethical dilemmas and maintaining boundaries.
About the role:
* Providing support and interventions for staff and volunteers across UK, Europe, and internationally.
* Responding proactively to urgent mental health needs and crises.
* Assessing and managing therapeutic episodes using evidence-based interventions.
* Advising staff supporting colleagues with mental health issues.
* Representing the team in networks and working with external agencies.
* Developing and delivering wellbeing training sessions.
* Contributing to wellbeing policies and projects, utilizing data for improvements.
What we offer:
This part-time, permanent role is based in Sidmouth, Devon, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It involves working 21 hours per week, flexibly scheduled between 08:30 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, with some online meetings on Wednesday afternoons. The role combines home and onsite work, with onsite presence approximately once per quarter.
