Companies House holds the largest source of administrative data about companies in the UK and forms a key input into many statistics and research into business and the economy. This is an exciting time to join Companies House. Recent and upcoming legislative reform is changing the way in which we operate driving demand for good quality insight and well visualised data to aid decision making. This work requires strong data analysis and stakeholder engagement skills and attention to detail. There will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the organization as well as the wider Civil Service to share best practice and ideas. Working in a busy section, the post-holder must be flexible to support the delivery of competing priorities across the wider team. This is a post which offers the opportunity to: Collaborate on shaping decision-making using data analysis within our services at Companies House. Develop skills in managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, to align goals, understand and resolve technical issues and ensure delivery. Work in an organisation committed to the development of all staff. Job description The successful candidate will: Develop and maintain the Companies House Data Quality pipeline. This work will involve the development of end-to-end Data Quality Action Plans, in line with the Government Data Quality Framework, to assess the quality of data entities within Companies House. This includes thorough stakeholder engagement, business rule research and construction of data quality metrics with dashboards that will be productionised for use by the organisation. Deliver analytical research projects. Applying research skills, analytical reasoning and technical expertise to investigate data entities, documenting information on entity purpose and business rules, and understanding analytical relationships within the database as a precursor to developing Data Quality metrics. Deliver good communication throughout the Data Quality life cycle. Engage with Data Owners and relevant stakeholders to understand Data Quality issues. Communication of findings regarding Data Quality risks with recommendation of further investigations or escalations as required. Providing Data Quality-focused support mechanisms for the wider organisation. Develop excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams, both within and across departments, to support Data Quality Action Plans in both their execution and refinement, along with relevant pipeline productionisation. Seek out opportunities to continuously improve processes. Collaborating on the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve and mature our processes and approach to work, including the use of new technologies. Training the team and wider organisation on data quality-related initiatives. Create and maintain documentation Write up Data Quality Action Plans and associated guidelines. Define and document data and metadata standards, managed assets, and workflows. Ensure all code is well-documented and adheres to industry best practice. Where you will be working You will be aligned to either our Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh office, where you will be expected to attend on a regular basis. We are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work which provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on your role and your day-to-day work activities. Your manager will agree regular patterns of attendance with you; however, you may be required to make yourself available to attend the office more frequently when required to meet business needs. Working Hours This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week, but we are open to parttime hours and job shares. To be eligible for this role you also need to meet our Nationality requirements which are outlined below and also successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Clearance (SC) before they can be appointed.
