About the role
We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Slough Sewage Treatment Works, SL1 9EB.
As a successful candidate, you will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision, ensuring all sites remain operational for our customers.

Responsibilities and duties
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Providing technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and giving training or support to technical trainees where required.
* Working on equipment such as pumps and control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement systems, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Participating in a stand‑by rota following the relevant training.
Qualifications and experience
* Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
* Experience in electrical systems in a “true multi‑skilled” capacity.
* Ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, opportunity to develop to dual‑skilled status.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
* Physical fitness for work in confined spaces with required training completed.
* Valid driving licence. All necessary equipment, such as vehicle and tools, are provided.

* Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
* Standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to £8,000–£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Location and working pattern
Base Location: Slough – SL1 9EB.
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby & overtime opportunities.
