About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a senior Occupational Therapist to join our stroke and neurology team here at Mid Yorks on a fixed term basis (to cover maternity leave). The team has occupational therapists and physiotherapists who work across our Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites. You will work on acute stroke, neurology and rehab wards and gain experience on both units.
You will work alongside experienced senior staff, gaining skills in the assessment and treatment of patients following a stroke and neurological event, in both an acute / hyper acute setting and rehab setting.
This role includes complex discharge planning, cognitive rehab and upper limb rehab.
The service works across 7 days.
Main duties
As an Occupational Therapist on the acute stroke and neurology unit you will work within the hyper acute setting, assessing patients in the initial hours following their stroke, and also work with patients on their ongoing inpatient rehab on both A2 and ward 5 and 6, using rehab techniques and complex discharge planning.
You will be required to supervise staff and students.
Key requirements
* Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with HCPC
* Wide experience within neurological setting
* Experience of assessing and treating stroke patients
