PAEDIATRIC SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICE
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY – MEDICAL SECRETARY
NORTH EAST EDINBURGH
Band 3 • Up to 14.4 hours / 0.4 WTE • FIXED TERM 1 YEAR
Responsibilities
* Provide medical secretary support to the paediatric speech and language therapy team based in East Edinburgh (Leith CTC or Mountcastle HC).
* Organise, book and cancel appointments and order/manage office supplies.
* Use NHS systems (e.g., TRAK/PECOS/SSTS) where possible; training can be provided.
* Work with other agencies within Health or Education as appropriate.
* Deliver a community-based service to children and families across Edinburgh as part of the team of therapists and assistants.
* Receive supervision from Band 4 admin staff and senior SLTs; participate in opportunities for training and development.
* Ensure full PVG clearance is obtained before commencing work.
Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent spoken and written communication and organisational skills.
* Experience in organising, booking and managing appointments and office supplies.
* Knowledge of NHS systems (TRA K/PECOS/SSTS) is desirable; training can be provided.
* Experience of working with other agencies within Health or Education is advantageous.
* Ability to work as part of a team delivering a high-quality service focused on the child’s needs.
