The Role
We’re seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to work closely with a small business to solve complex problems across the Public Sector landscape. You’ll innovate, roll up your sleeves, dive into system details, and deliver impactful technical solutions for our customers.
You will build and maintain a portfolio of Windows and Linux technologies, related storage, server platforms, and integrated management software, using both cloud services and on‑premises infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and execute routine configuration modifications within internal and client‑facing systems.
* Enhance infrastructure stability and efficiency by providing expert 2nd/3rd line support, improving system performance and availability.
* Support virtualisation and understand how solutions fit into the broader IT ecosystem, including authentication and directory services integration.
* Collaborate with Infrastructure Architects and the CTO on designing and developing greenfield services.
* Create clear technical documents that communicate complex information.
Ideal Candidate
* Strong understanding of virtualisation and cloud technologies (e.g., VMware, AWS).
* Extensive experience with Windows and Linux environments.
* Proficient with DevOps tools, including Jira and Confluence.
* Proven experience managing enterprise systems, platforms, and networks in data centres and cloud environments.
* Bonus: experience or sector knowledge within UK Defence (Army, Air Force, or Royal Navy).
