Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fabricator Welder to join our team. You will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of vehicle chassis, bodies, and components to precise specifications. Projects include HGV conversions, axle fitments, and the integration of specialist equipment for Rapiscan Systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel and other metals using MIG, TIG, and other processes
* Modify, repair, and custom‑build vehicle chassis and bodies
* Operate fabrication machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely
* Inspect and test welds and assemblies for quality compliance
* Collaborate with engineering and workshop teams on bespoke projects
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment
* Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a fabricator welder in automotive, HGV, or industrial settings
* Proficient in MIG and TIG welding across various metals and thicknesses
* Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Skilled with fabrication tools and measuring instruments
* Effective problem‑solving and teamwork skills
* Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Desirable Qualifications
* Vocational or technical qualifications in welding or fabrication
* Apprenticeship or formal training in welding/fabrication
* Experience with HGV conversions or bespoke vehicle engineering
