HR Assistant (PART-TIME)
Our client, a reputable law firm, is seeking a dedicated and professional HR Assistant to join the team. This is a part-time role (3 days per week) and will be based in Eastbourne. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the legal and support teams with a wide range of HR responsibilities. Please note that the salary listed for this job is a full-time equivalent, and will be pro-rata'd for the 3 days per week.
The successful HR Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of HR operations, working closely with managers and staff across the business. You will support on recruitment, employee lifecycle administration, compliance checks, training, and day-to-day HR queries.
Key Responsibilities – HR Assistant
Supporting the recruitment and onboarding process for legal and support staff, including drafting contracts, offer letters, and carrying out pre-employment checks.
Maintaining and updating employee records and HR systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and regulatory requirements.
Assisting with performance reviews, training records, and professional development programmes.
Providing first-line advice on HR policies, procedures, absence management, and employee relations, escalating where necessary.
Supporting payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy of staff data.
Assisting with compliance checks such as right-to-work, DBS and reference checks.
Coordinating staff training, CPD, wellbeing and diversity initiatives.
Acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries, delivering a professional and confidential service.
Key Requirements – HR Assistant
Previous experience in a HR Assistant role; prior experience within a law firm or professional services is desirable but not essential.
If you do not have law firm experience, you must have completed your CIPD qualification (Level 3 minimum).
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
A confident communicator with the ability to work with staff at all levels.
Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
Proficiency in IT systems, including HR databases and Microsoft Office.
