Responsibilities
* Perform fiber optic installation, splicing, termination, and testing (single-mode and multi-mode).
* Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to verify signal integrity and link performance.
* Manage fiber patching, labeling, and cable organization in racks and patch panels.
* Assist with rack and stack of network and server equipment within the data center.
* Maintain structured cabling systems — including copper and fiber management.
* Support troubleshooting and repair of fiber connectivity issues across various data center zones.
* Coordinate with network engineers to validate link performance and resolve connectivity incidents.
* Ensure all work adheres to industry standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and internal data center guidelines.
* Document all work activities, including test results, fiber maps, and port assignments.
* Perform daily inspections to ensure cabling systems are in optimal condition and compliant with safety procedures.
* Support deployment, migration, and maintenance projects for data and network infrastructure.
Qualifications & Skills
* Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field.
* 1–2 years of experience in fiber optics, structured cabling, or data center operations.
* Strong knowledge of fiber optic technology (SM/MM), connectors, and patch panels.
* Experience with fiber testing tools (OTDR, VFL, Power Meter, Fusion Splicer).
* Understanding of network fundamentals (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, switches, routers).
* Ability to read and interpret fiber diagrams, layouts, and documentation.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality workmanship.
* Physically able to handle data center equipment and work in confined or elevated spaces.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
* Certifications such as FOA CFOT, BICSI, or CompTIA Fiber Optics.
* Experience with fiber monitoring systems and data center infrastructure tools (DCIM).
* Basic knowledge of power distribution (PDUs, UPS) and environmental systems.
* Previous experience in telecom or ISP environments is a plus.
