As a Senior Stress Engineer at Expleo, you will work in a dynamic and responsive environment, engaging in concept and sub‑surface vessel design, complex engineering analysis, the creation of innovative tools and processes, and the delivery of engineering consultancy services across a wide range of global maritime programmes. Responsibilities
* Develop and apply a breadth of engineering skills across related disciplines.
* Define and conduct engineering analyses, including stress analysis, FEA, technical studies, and R&D projects, to deliver high‑quality solutions to our customers and clients.
* Provide mentoring support, guidance and leadership, enabling engineers to grow professionally.
* Investigate and solve complex technical problems through all design phases.
* Develop and maintain written technical procedures, standards and guidelines.
* Assist in maintaining quality standards for engineering, design and production information.
* Interface directly with customers and clients, representing our teams in discussions of engineering solutions.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering) or equivalent experience in naval and commercial ship design, construction or maintenance.
* Professional membership of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).
* Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council, or ability to achieve within 12 months.
Essential Skills
* Experienced in one or more of the following technical knowledge areas:
o Marine structure design & analysis
o Composite and metal structure design
o Static stress analysis for composites and metals
o Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT)
o Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Experience
* Minimum 4 years post‑graduate experience (8 years for non‑degree qualified) in commercial or naval maritime domains.
* Experience working in multi‑company and multidisciplinary engineering teams, with strong communication skills.
* Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading or supporting multiple engineering projects and customers.

* Primary place of work likely one of our UK offices (Bristol, Derby, or Preston); occasional travel to client sites may be required.
* Post requires regulated Trade Control compliance, involving working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.
