Job Description
Hays Health & Safety are excited to be working with a leading packaging manufacturer in St Helens to find a confident and capable Health & Safety Manager to take charge at a large-scale production and warehousing site. This is a key leadership role, managing an internal Health & Safety team and driving a proactive safety culture across a complex, high-volume operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the site's safety agenda, ensuring all operational areas meet and exceed legal and internal standards.
* Manage and develop a team of two safety coordinators and one H&S administrator, providing guidance, structure, and support.
* Deliver engaging safety communications, training, and awareness initiatives tailored to operational needs.
* Oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions, ensuring continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with site leadership to assess the safety impact of operational changes and new processes.
* Coordinate external audits, inspections, and contractor safety compliance.
* Maintain internal audit schedules and reporting aligned with ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
* Chair regular safety meetings and contribute to strategic planning for site-wide improvements.
