This role is an opportunity to be part of a Scottish Government national youth employability and skills initiative.
The role involves developing and managing industry links, guiding and supporting businesses to work with education to create inspiring activities for young people. You will manage a broad portfolio of projects with multiple stakeholders, which supports the objectives of DYW Glasgow.
You will be responsible for providing business engagement covering a range of activity to create business partnerships with schools and programmes. Key to the success of the role is stakeholder engagement and relationship management with private, public and third sector businesses and organisations.
This is a demanding and externally facing role as part of the Projects Team within Glasgow Chamber of Commerce. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver innovative and potentially high profile project activity within the business community and work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
Job Description
You will support businesses to become engaged in a suite of activity to create lasting impact, influence the curriculum and increase employability for young people. The ideal candidates will be able work with a broad range of key stakeholders and businesses and have the ability identify, project manage and capitalise on opportunities. They will be a self-motivated individual who can manage a range of diverse projects and deliver an engagement plan for all stakeholders.
You will deliver this with guidance and leadership from the Programme Manager and Regional Lead.
Responsibilities:
* Work towards the fulfilment of pre-set KPIs, other performance indicators and set targets.
* Use creative marketing and networking to involve industry in the delivery of activity which supports education in the programme of work.
* Work with key partners in education services to provide a range of innovative DYW activity is delivered across schools in the city and ensuring that those most of need of interventions have offered them.
* Develop effective relationships and joint working practices with key partners such as Skills Development Scotland and Glasgow City Council.
* Deliver impact on key equalities issues by working with partnership key bodies in Glasgow and Scotland as a whole.
* Devise and deliver innovative events which progress the DYW agenda such as Jobs Fairs, and Employer Inspiration Briefings as well as linking with curriculum delivery.
* Manage the delivery and monitoring of the impact of projects supported by DYW funding.
* Reviewing the success of delivery and adapt and develop as required.
* Delivering any other relevant duties which may be required.
* Recording information for reporting purposes.
Person Specification
Essential
* Experience of businesses development and account management.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of emerging sectors in industry.
* Clear evidence of ability to communicate effectively at senior management level where appropriate.
* Self-starter and ability to work with limited supervision in a small team.
* Ability to identify gaps and opportunities, creating solutions and acting upon these in a proactive and engaging manner.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines with minimal resources.
* A passion for playing a role in making a difference to the city by working directly with the business community in partnership with key stakeholders.
Desirable
* Knowledge and understanding of Glasgow's economic issues.
* Experience of working in an economic development environment.
