EHS Controller

Location: Broughton (Onsite)

Contract Duration: 12 months (Inside IR35)

Rate: £37 per hour via umbrella

We are seeking an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Controller to join our clientsFacilities Management and Real Estate (FMRE) team in Broughton. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and compliant working environment within the organisation.

What will you be doing?

As the EHS Controller, you will be responsible for implementing effective risk controls for FMRE activities and service providers. You will oversee compliance with regulations governing the introduction and maintenance of new work equipment and plant. Additionally, you will evaluate the safety management systems of prospective FMRE contractors, ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Conducting EHS inspections on internal operations and activities performed by service providers will be a key aspect of the role. You will also support the documentation of formal records and action plans related to these inspections. Providing expert EHS advice for strategic projects throughout feasibility and design reviews will be expected, along with auditing compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and the Building Safety Act.

It is crucial that work-related incidents, including near misses, lost-time injuries, and environmental incidents, are reported and investigated effectively, with appropriate remedial actions implemented. You will play a pivotal role in promoting environmental health and safety across the organisation, engaging employees at all levels by facilitating safety reviews, reporting key performance indicators, organising training sessions, leading awareness campaigns, and conducting EHS inductions.

Required skills and qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification. Experience in implementing safety initiatives within fast-paced environments is essential, alongside a strong understanding of risk assessment and auditing techniques. Knowledge of facilities management, including construction and maintenance processes, will be beneficial. The ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within a team is important. A practical and pragmatic approach to health and safety standards is required. A commitment to ongoing professional development, including membership in a recognised health and safety body such as IOSH, is highly desirable.
