Swindon Borough Council has an aspiration to achieve net zero over the next 10 years. The ownership and operation of 12.5 MW of solar farms, 600 kW of rooftop PV, and installation of LED street lighting provide a great opportunity to build on. Further decarbonisation survey work is being undertaken on properties across the estate.
Our energy team comprises an Energy Manager and a Technical Officer. This post is fixed term for 2 years with a focus on water management. You’ll be working in an experienced and friendly team managing, energy procurement, compliance, energy saving and sustainability projects.
Your next role
We are looking for an experienced energy professional used to managing a multi-site portfolio and willing and able to undertake operational tasks. Workload will be varied including, liaising with supplier organisations, contract management, finding & reading meters, procurement, establishing and running smaller contracts, and assisting with energy & sustainability opportunity planning. Your focus will be on the corporate water contract and spend with a view to driving savings through preventative maintenance and leakage management.
You will have excellent contract management skills and a proven ability to listen, explain and influence. You will be an enthusiastic, skilled subject matter expert with good report writing and presentation skills. You will have great organisational skills and be capable of managing your own workload and diary.
Requirement to drive and possession of a full current driving licence, in order to carry out site visits and attend meetings.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
