We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Technician to support the Class 185 Fleet at our Ardwick traincare facility in Manchester. We seek candidates with strong electrical, mechanical, and fault diagnosis experience. Rail experience is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Your Role
* Undertake routine maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the production plan requirements.
* Perform download diagnosis and fault-finding at a basic level.
* Assist team members in developing technical skills.
* Drive depot movements of rolling stock within the depot limits.
* Identify, order, and collect spares and materials from stores.
* Assist with cleaning of rolling stock as required.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within your activities to benefit customers and the business.
* Share best practices with colleagues across sites.
Qualifications and Skills
* Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
* Rolling stock experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
* Experience in documenting actions and operations accurately and according to procedures.
* Good knowledge of tools, equipment, and PPE care.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations, including bio-hazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
* Proficiency in using a laptop for diagnostics and fault-finding.
* Ability to interpret technical publications.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including days and nights.
Additional Information
* This is a permanent role involving a shift pattern (12-hour days and nights).
* Candidates should ideally reside within 1 hour of the depot due to legal working time regulations.
* Successful candidates will be offered a level aligned with their performance during the selection process.
