Specialist MSK Podiatrist

The closing date is 22 June 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Podiatrist to join the Podiatry Service as a Band 6 Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatrist.

This is a fixed term post to provide cover for absence for specific purpose that we anticipate will be required for 12 Months. We reserve the right to end this contract sooner with appropriate notice.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with a range of MSK foot and ankle conditions. This will include developing and implementing individualised treatment plans, which may include orthotic provision, exercise therapy and patient education, to support effective self-management and improved clinical outcomes.

The role will involve working as part of a MSK team across community and outpatient settings, contributing to the safe, effective and efficient delivery of podiatry services. The post holder will be expected to manage a defined caseload, prioritising patients based on clinical need and service demands.

In addition, the post holder will support the wider team by contributing to service development, clinical supervision and quality improvement activities. They will also provide guidance and support to junior staff, assistants and students where appropriate, helping to maintain high standards of care.


Main duties of the job

To assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment programmes for patients presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal (MSK) foot and ankle conditions. This may include the use of orthotic therapy, exercise prescription and patient education.

To plan and manage their own caseload, which will consist of MSK patients.

To provide an efficient, effective and consistently high-quality podiatry service, working independently across community and clinic settings.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development and delivering patient-centred care.

Job responsibilities

To support the smooth day-to-day running of clinical sessions, including maintaining a safe clinical environment.

To contribute to service delivery by maintaining accurate clinical records and sharing relevant information with senior staff to support service planning and performance.

To work within professional and organisational policies, maintaining high standards of clinical care, infection prevention and health and safety.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* A degree or equivalent qualification in Podiatric Medicine.
* Registration with the Health Professions Council.
* A certificate in administration of local anaesthetics.
* Evidence of relevant Post Graduate Education, Validated Courses, Training and continuous professional development.
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
* Podiatry MSK clinical experience.


Experience

* Evidence of relevant Post Graduate experience and training within specialist areas in Podiatry such as management of the high risk foot, the Diabetic Foot at risk and Biomechanical/ Musculoskeletal Assessment Diagnosis and Management.


Knowledge

* Specialist biomechanical/ musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis and management.


Additional Criteria

* Flexible approach to duties.
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.


Skills and Abilities

* Ability to challenge poor behaviour.
* A positive attitude and able to act on feedback.
* A range of evidence based clinical skills.
* Ability to prescribe and cast orthotics/insoles.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
