This is a full time, fixed term externally funded role for 2 years.

The role
Based at our Headington Campus and reporting to the Programme Director, Lecturers in Social Work are responsible for undertaking academic and academic-related responsibilities, and for supporting the growth of the Social Work programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate.

About the team
The post is located within the, part of the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology. The School is dedicated to delivering high-quality education and research, framed within the student offer of supportive challenge, and research informed teaching, across all its disciplines.

What will I be doing?
● Teaching students using appropriate instruction methods such as lectures, tutorials, seminars, and other formal pedagogic work.
● Supervising students' projects and dissertations.
● Undertaking relevant personal research and other forms of scholarly activity.
● Undertaking curriculum development work, including identification of partner/employer needs, planning, developing, and evaluating courses and course materials.
● Caring for the pastoral needs of students, including counselling, welfare, and guidance in collaboration with wellbeing support services across the wider university.
● Managing and administering education processes, including the administration and management of practice learning.
● Participating in the administrative processes of the institution, including committee membership and quality assurance procedures.
● Enhancing the University’s relationship and reputation with external stakeholders to ensure a high-quality student experience during placements and other activities.

What skills do I need?
● Masters or higher in Social Work or a cognate discipline
● Registration with Social Work England
● Experience of managing practice learning opportunities and supporting students with placement-based learning
● Ability to provide differentiated teaching to meet the academic needs of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
● Ability to provide pastoral and practice-based guidance to students during placements and on-campus study
● Excellent organisational skills.
Desirable:
● Evidence of research or scholarly activity relevant to the subject area.
● Experience of developing module materials and assessments to achieve specified learning outcomes.

About the location

Based at our Headington campus, you’ll experience the vibrant campus atmosphere and benefit from our modern office environment. The campus is one mile from the centre of Oxford and is served by regular public transport. This role will likely require regular attendance on campus for both teaching and administrative duties.
