The role
You will work on the technical delivery of a wide range of projects, including:
* Water environment components of environmental management, including input into construction environmental management plans, post‑consent discharge of planning obligations, and support on water advice to the construction industry.
* Site works such as site walkover surveys, monitoring borehole installation, hydraulic testing, and groundwater/surface water level and quality monitoring programmes.
* Supporting clients with abstraction licensing, Hydrogeological Risk Assessments for landfill and deposit for recovery permits, and Groundwater Risk Assessments for groundwater discharges and activity permits.
Other duties include:
* Involvement in proposals writing, risk identification, project set‑up, tracking progress against budgets, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables.
* Providing workload instruction to others in the team and other disciplines.
* Supporting the development of junior team members through on‑the‑job training and guidance.
* Contributing to the strategic direction, planning, and development of the team.
* Keeping abreast of technical innovation, regulations, and best practice to ensure high‑value compliance.
* Working full time with flexible, hybrid, and part‑time options available.
We prefer candidates located in our Chester Office but will consider applicants from elsewhere.
Qualifications
* Relevant academic qualification(s) and a current or ongoing registration as a Chartered specialist through a UK/EU recognised organisation (or equivalent overseas).
* Experience contributing to the delivery of technical water environment / hydrogeological needs.
* Specialist technical skills: surface water and groundwater sampling best practices, Environmental Impact Assessment requirements, GIS, analysis, and modelling software.
* Good awareness of UK water‑related legislation and regulations.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying technical ability in written reports and meetings.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
* Full, current driving licence valid in the UK.
