Monday to Friday – Salaried £50,000 - £55,000 + Excellent Benefits

Purpose
The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing Health, Safety, and Environment Management systems and activities across production and warehouse facilities. The H&S Manager will lead safety initiatives across the site, identifying hazards, reducing risks, and preventing accidents.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, supporting the wider H&S Team including the Coordinator and H&S Administrator.
Tasks & Responsibilities: (Not limited to)
* Advise all levels of the site, providing technical support and motivating stakeholders to properly administer health, safety, and environmental programs.
* Implement ALPLA programs, apply relevant technical guidance, and control hazards related to physical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and ergonomic risks from operations.
* Arrange Health & Safety training for all plant employees and communicate via toolbox talks.
* Promote a positive HSE culture amongst all employee groups, engaging stakeholders when appropriate.
* Facilitate a risk assessment program for continuous review.
* Present incidents, near misses, and injuries data during management meetings and take corrective actions.
* Arrange external risk assessments and surveys.
* Ensure the management team conducts management of change and impact assessments prior to variations affecting health, safety, and environment.
* Participate in the management review process.
* Arrange internal audits and reporting against the ISO45001 standard.
* Chair health and safety committee meetings.
* Perform other site team responsibilities and projects as they arise.
Education / Experience:
* Relevant qualification in HSE, NEBOSH Diploma / Certificate.
* Substantial health and safety management experience within an FMCG organization (ideally plastics / packaging), with knowledge of distribution and warehousing functions.
* Experience in a multi-site role with exposure to various production machinery and associated equipment.
* Experience managing external parties and third-party contractors.
* Extensive knowledge of health and safety standards within ISO14001 and 45001 frameworks.
* Excellent MS Office skills.
* Ability to analyze rules and guidance to assess business impact.
* Strong problem-solving skills to identify and analyze organizational needs and provide pragmatic solutions.
* Line management experience.
* Confident and professional, with the ability to inspire and motivate people.
