We are now seeking a technical and strategically minded Group Financial Controller to help shape the future of group finance and play a pivotal role in modernising a large, multi entity finance function. This position offers a rare opportunity to re-shape and modernise groupwide finance operations, embed best practice financial governance, and influence the strategic agenda across a complex, PEbacked organisation. This is a senior leadership role offering significant visibility across the Group and influence at Board level. The Role As Group Financial Controller, you will take ownership of all group financial reporting, governance, controls, and statutory compliance. You will lead and develop the central finance team, oversee group consolidation, drive continuous improvement, and act as a key business partner to the Group Finance Director, Group FP&A and operational finance teams. You will ensure the business maintains strong financial discipline, delivers accurate and timely reporting, and is well positioned for external scrutiny, audit processes, and ongoing investment activity. You’ll also champion process improvement, system optimisation, and the integration of automation and AI into the finance operating model. What you’ll be responsible for Lead and develop the central finance team, driving high performance, strong controls, and continuous improvement. Own Group month end close and consolidated reporting. Oversee statutory accounts, technical papers, and balance sheet integrity. Maintain and embed Group financial controls and improve reporting efficiency. Manage external audit and tax adviser relationships. Oversee statutory audits, tax submissions, and regulatory compliance across all entities. Partner with Group Finance Director, FP&A, and operational finance teams to support strategic decisions. Provide insight on performance, cost drivers, working capital, and payroll trends. Lead working capital forecasting and optimisation. Produce balance sheet forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and required actions. Deliver key initiatives including legal entity simplification, transfer pricing improvements, and finance process optimisation. What we’re looking for Essential Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or senior finance leader within a complex, multi entity or PEbacked organisation ACA qualification (preferred) with strong technical accounting expertise Experience working confidently with executive and board level stakeholders Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams Deep knowledge of group consolidation, audit processes, statutory reporting and controls Strong understanding of working capital dynamics and balance sheet optimisation Experience improving processes, implementing systems, and leveraging technology to increase efficiency Desirable Experience supporting business simplification and corporate rationalisation Prior involvement in automated reporting or AI driven finance improvements Experience with multisystem environments and groupwide process redesign Why join Marston Holdings?
