Offer description

Summary

Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of a great, growing team, this role as a Facilities Assistant plays a core part in caring for our visitor facilities and providing fantastic customer service. If you're helpful, friendly and like a varied working day with lots of practical tasks, we'd love you to join us.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract Duration: Permanent

Working Hours: Two roles are available, both 665 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

Working Pattern: You will work 1 day per week and one weekend in 1, plus some additional days and bank holidays.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

You’ll be part of a friendly, keen team based at Speke Hall, with occasional days spent assisting at our portfolio sites: The Beatles’ Childhood Homes and The Hardmans’ House in Liverpool city centre. Our teams are passionate about the work we do to conserve these special places and to share their stories with a wide range of visitors. As we have relatively small teams on site, everyone helps each other out. Whichever property you are based at and whatever role you play on site, standards of excellence in customer service and visitor engagement are essential. We’re looking for people to work with us who are enthusiastic, flexible, adaptable, enjoy variety and are team players.

What you'll be doing

As the Facilities Assistant, you'll assist with the day to day cleanliness and presentation of the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces. You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning and minor maintenance ensuring all our visitor facilities are kept in good working order. You may also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries.

Duties such as cleaning toilets, sweeping and litter picking will form a core part of the role, both inside and outdoors. You’ll be aiming for the highest standards of customer service everywhere you look after, and this includes speaking to people as they visit and helping them with any queries. General maintenance work, some compliance checks and helping within other teams will also form part of your role.

We’re looking for someone who’s happy to get stuck in on a range of tasks, and who has a great eye for presentation standards and attention to detail. You’ll not be afraid of getting out and about to make things happen, and can juggle a varied workload.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you're:

1. focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
2. a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
3. well-organised and adaptable
4. willing to learn new skills
5. comfortable working in flexible and adaptable way.
