About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated andpassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school in Wigan. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range ofplex needs, including autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and other learning difficulties. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
2. Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
3. Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
4. Provide one-to-one and small group support.
5. Help prepare learning materials and classroom resources.
6. Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour.
7. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
8. Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices within the school.
Requirements
9. Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs (preferred).
10. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
11. Strongmunication and interpersonal skills.
12. Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
13. Relevant qualifications (, Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
14. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
