A well-established professional services firm is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to take ownership of a diverse audit portfolio and lead teams in delivering high-quality audit services. This is a hands‑on role combining technical delivery, client relationship management, and people leadership.
You will play a key role in managing audit engagements end‑to‑end, supporting business development activity, and contributing to the wider success of the audit practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of audit clients, acting as a primary point of contact
* Plan, scope, and budget audit assignments, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and profitably
* Ensure high‑quality audit delivery in line with UK auditing standards and professional requirements
* Lead and manage audit teams on a day‑to‑day basis
* Allocate work effectively and run regular workflow meetings to ensure deadlines are met
* Coach, mentor, and develop team members, providing regular feedback
* Assist partners and senior leadership with business planning and performance monitoringGenerate referrals and support conversion of new business opportunities
Required Skills and Experience
* ACA or ACCA qualification
* Strong statutory audit experience gained in UK public practice
* Solid knowledge of UK GAAP and ISAs (IFRS knowledge desirable)
* Experience managing audit engagements and teams
* Excellent client‑facing and communication skills
* Strong organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities
* A collaborative approach with commercial awareness
Experience within specialist sectors (e.g. academies or not‑for‑profit) is advantageous but not essential.
