Senior Support Worker
Location: Norwich (community-based)
Service Type: Support at Home Service
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full Time)
Contract: 6 month fixed term with potential to go permanent
1. 15 hours per week – administrative / office-based duties
2. 22.5 hours per week – direct support in the community
Salary: £26,102.58 per annum (£13.35 per hour)
Mileage: £0.45 per mile (paid while on support)
Reporting to: Service Manager & Deputy Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our Support at Home service in the Fakenham area. This is a varied and rewarding role, combining leadership and administration with hands-on support, helping people to live independently in their own homes and within their local community.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the management team in a supervisory capacity while also delivering high-quality, person-centred support. You will lead by example, promote best practice, and help create a positive, open and safe culture for both staff and the people we support.
Key Responsibilities
Promoting Best Practice
3. Support teams to deliver person-centred support that reflects individuals’ needs, wishes and aspirations
4. Promote an open, inclusive and safe working culture
5. Complete quality and compliance audits and support improvement action plans
6. Support the achievement of service KPIs
7. Promote health and safety across the service
8. Act as an ambassador for FitzRoy within the local community and with external agencies
9. Champion organisational initiatives, including digital transformation
Supervisory & Leadership Support
10. Role model positive and inclusive team working
11. Support managers with rota planning, staffing cover and absence management
12. Allocate tasks and lead shifts to ensure effective service delivery
13. Provide guidance, supervision and support to Support Workers
14. Conduct support and development meetings and return-to-work interviews
15. Support the induction of new starters, bank and agency staff
16. Act as a first point of contact for day-to-day staff queries
17. Respond appropriately to emergencies in line with service protocols
Administration & Compliance (15 hours per week)
18. Ensure accurate and timely completion of records and reports
19. Maintain quality monitoring systems and digital records
20. Support the management of finances for people we support, in line with policy
21. Oversee medication management, audits and compliance
22. Use and support staff with digital systems such as ORS and Digital Support Plans
23. Carry out staff observations to support training and compliance
Direct Support (22.5 hours per week)
24. Provide hands-on support to people in their own homes and in the community across the Fakenham area
25. Support individuals to achieve personal goals, maintain independence and access community activities
26. Build positive relationships with people we support, families and professionals
27. Travel between support visits, claiming mileage at £0.45 per mile
What We’re Looking For
28. Experience as a Support Worker, ideally with some supervisory or senior responsibilities
29. Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills
30. A commitment to person-centred, community-based support
31. Confidence balancing administrative responsibilities with direct support
32. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential)
33. Ability to travel across the Fakenham area
