Role: Support Worker
SPECTRA Care Ltd is a trusted and compassionate provider of health and social care services. We support individuals in their own homes, assisting those with a variety of health needs, including learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical disabilities, and those requiring assistance with personal care.
Role overview
As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting individuals to live healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring individuals can access and enjoy their local community. You will also support with personal care needs, medication management, and help maintain a clean and safe living environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting individuals to live independently: Encourage and support daily activities such as meal preparation, budgeting, and personal care.
* Administering medication: Follow medication protocols, ensuring medication is administered accurately and on time.
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and accessible home: Keep the home environment tidy and organised.
* Promoting healthy relationships: Encourage and support positive relationships with family, friends, and the wider community.
* Supporting with day-to-day activities: Provide practical and emotional support for shopping, appointments, social activities, and hobbies.
* Accessing the community: Help individuals access community resources and activities to enhance social inclusion and well-being.
* Supporting outside the home setting: May accompany individuals to hospital visits, holidays, or appointments at police stations as needed.
* Promoting independence and individuality: Respect personal preferences and promote independence.
* Report to the Service Manager: Regularly report progress and ensure care plans are followed.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
* Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to help others.
* Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse needs.
* Knowledge of person-centred care principles.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to provide support outside the home when required.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable.
* A full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
* Weekend availability
* Experience in a supported living service
