The role Thorn is looking for a new Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for the Engineering disciplines and the achievement of cost out activities within a central or designated area/department. The main accountabilities of the role are: Provide hands on support and guidance to non-technical staff. Assisting operations by helping with process design, tooling/test-gear/jigging improvements, re-layout of facilities and method studies on existing products. Lead the disciplines for New Product Developments from concept/design stage through to industrialisation and production. Develop employees and processes to achieve cost effective business strategies by focussing on enhancing business and employee capabilities through training and development. Formulate and deliver projects to improve overall efficiency/OEE and promote Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing. Root cause analysis and countermeasure solutions for customer complaints. Your profile What we are looking for A strong background in Manufacturing Engineering gained from a fast paced, JIT environment. Capable in developing staff both technical and non-technical. A keen eye for improvement areas with the knowledge of how to run cost down initiatives. Good standard of Literacy, Numeracy and Communication skills as well as Presentation and Project Management skills. Strong acumen in IT systems such as MS Office and SAP would be advantageous.
