Health & Safety Assistant
SWB Trust is an integrated care organisation committed to improving the health and safety of our patients and staff. We are looking for a full‑time Health & Safety Assistant to join the Health & Safety team at Sandwell Health Campus, with a requirement to support other SWB sites.
This is a varied and proactive role where the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of Health & Safety. The role includes:
* Reviewing non‑clinical incident reports and identifying those that require senior management attention.
* Assisting with internal health and safety audits and inspections.
* Supporting incident/accident investigations.
* Reporting incidents that satisfy RIDDOR criteria to the Health and Safety Executive.
* Producing health and safety resources such as information leaflets, short videos and training packages.
* Providing health & safety advice to Trust staff on approved topics.
* Assisting staff with Display Screen Equipment requirements.
* Supporting Health and Safety training activities.
* Providing administrative support to the Head of Health & Safety and other managers.
* Receiving incoming calls, making notes and redirecting them when necessary.
* Welcoming visitors both internal and external in a courteous and professional manner.
* Using computer systems such as Microsoft Office and Safeguard.
* Raising purchase orders and maintaining the ordering system for stock and non‑stock items.
* Managing the Central Alerts System, including administrative management of safety alerts and field safety notices and updating the CAS website pages.
Qualifications and skills:
* Previous experience in a health and safety role is advantageous but not essential.
* A recognised health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH) or a willingness to complete an appropriate external qualification sponsored by us.
* Strong administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to talk and present with confidence.
* Competency with a variety of IT packages.
