SHEQ Advisor - Aberdeenshire

The Role

The SHEQ Advisor is responsible for providing professional support to the clients matters relating to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management across civil engineering projects. The role ensures the organisation complies with applicable statutory obligations, industry standards, and internal policies while promoting a proactive, positive culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

* Work in partnership with senior management to set the highest possible standards of leadership in promoting SHEQ procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with both company procedures and legal obligations.
* Maintain and develop all SHEQ-related policies, practices, procedures, and plans.
* Ensure legislative compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
* Provide competent health, safety and environmental advice and guidance to employees at all levels within the company.
* Promote a proactive, positive and continuous improvement SHEQ culture across the Group.
* Monitor SHEQ performance through inspections, audits and engagement activities.
* Keep accurate records of inspection findings and produce reports that highlight issues and suggest improvements.
* Assist with improvements, initiatives and targeted campaigns to address areas of poor performance, developing the maturity of the management system and improving communication and wider business culture.
* Manage and maintain the internal and external quality auditing schedule.
* Undertake or arrange SHEQ inductions for all personnel.
* Assist and support the development, maintenance and management of the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Requirements


Qualifications

Essential

* NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a SHEQ advisory role within civil engineering or construction.
* UK driving licence (preferably clean)
* Right to live and work in the UK required as CHAP do not have the ability to provide visa sponsorship.

Desirable

* Auditor qualifications (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001) advantageous.
* Professional Membership to IOSH or IIRSM (or working towards)
* CSCS Card


Experience

* Relevant sector experience in a similar role.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own time effectively to meet deadlines.
* Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organisation.
* Demonstrated ability to engage and work constructively with colleagues across departments.
* Proficient IT skills with strong working knowledge of Windows-based applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
