We are seeking a passionate and innovative Software Controls Engineer eager to drive automation excellence in regulated sectors, including water, energy, and process industries.
Key responsibilities include:
* Design, develop, test, and commission industrial automation solutions, including PLC programming, SCADA, and HMI systems.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated control systems aligned with client requirements.
* Produce and review technical documentation such as control philosophies, functional design specifications, user manuals, and electrical schematics.
* Manage the full lifecycle of automation projects—from concept and specification through to commissioning and client handover.
* Conduct site surveys, support FAT/SAT testing, and participate in commissioning to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable system delivery.
* Diagnose and resolve issues in both new and legacy automation systems.
* Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, promote best practices, and ensure satisfaction throughout project delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A relevant engineering qualification in Electrical, Controls, Automation, or a related discipline.
* Practical experience designing and implementing industrial control systems using PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms.
* Knowledge of software engineering for automation, including coding, troubleshooting, simulation, and validation.
* Clear communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
* A proactive problem-solver with an analytical mindset and the ability to work under pressure.
* A full UK driving license to travel to client/project sites across Hampshire and the South as required.
