Directorate: People ServicesHours: Full-Time Contract Type: Temporary, Start Sept 2025 Location: The Council House/Working from home We are looking for a qualified Teacher of the Deaf who can support deaf children and young people in non-specialist settings in Derby City during the Autumn Term this year (September 2025 to December 2025). We are looking for short term cover for one term to cover for a maternity leave and whilst we recruit a permanent teacher following a resignation. We need one or more QToDs who are confident in carrying out equipment checks as well as functional listening assessments. The successful applicant will be working as part of the support service for Hearing Impaired children in the Specialist Teaching and Psychology Service (STePS). We are a small, motivated, friendly and professional team that support children and young people from 0-19. We have a strong, well established and positive working relationship with the audiology department at the Royal Derby, the speech and language therapy service, our new communities/ bilingual team and our county colleagues. We work in a multi-disciplinary way and closely with other members of the team when they are also involved in providing support. Our children and young people, and their families, are at the core of the work we do and we work hard to ensure they get timely and high quality support. You must be able to carry out in-person visits to schools and early years settings in Derby and you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
