Marine Water Quality Officer - 32656
Job Summary
Environment Agency’s Marine team is looking for a Marine Water Quality Officer to support evidence‑based decisions. The role involves evaluating the impact of discharges, modelling bathing water quality and nutrient loads, and managing incident responses. Two positions are available: one permanent and one fixed‑term of six months. Work is national with flexible hybrid arrangements.
Responsibilities
* Review complex reports and provide concise summaries to support decision‑making.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Use data to inform water quality models and strengthen evidence for decisions.
* Summarise and communicate technical work; raise challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Apply sound records management principles.
* Participate in incident response and manage incidents with full training and support.
Qualifications
* A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (preferred; strong candidates may be pursuing professional membership).
* Experience in data analysis; knowledge of modelling software is desirable.
* Proficiency in Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages such as Mike or Cormix.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to non‑technical audiences.
* Initiative and teamwork across dispersed environments.
* Comfortable working in a virtual team and traveling for occasional national meetings.
