Senior Transport Planner

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Transport Planner to join their growing team in Gatwick.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a transport planning professional to take on a hands on, client facing role within a thriving team. You'll work across a wide range of development projects, providing expert transport advice, managing applications, and liaising directly with clients, local authorities, and design teams.
The Role
As a Senior Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for leading small to medium sized projects from inception to completion, while contributing to the success of larger scale schemes. You'll manage key client relationships, oversee technical project delivery, and help guide junior team members in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing and delivering transport planning projects across a range of sectors.
Preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and related documentation.
Liaising with local authorities, clients, and external consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.
Leading client meetings and representing the consultancy at planning and design discussions.
Assisting in the development of the wider transport planning team through mentoring and technical support.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
At least four years' experience as a Transport Planner within the public or private sector.
Experience using relevant transport modelling software, including TEMPro, ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig, TRICS, and Excel.
A relevant degree in Transport Planning or a related discipline (Master's preferred but not essential).
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIHT, CILT) preferred but not essential.
A proactive and adaptable approach, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
A full UK driving licence.
