B6 Specialist Occupational Therapist - Learning Disabilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an occupational therapist eager to work with people with learning disabilities who have complex health needs and/or challenging behaviour/mental health needs. This role offers the chance to develop skills in this area by joining our county-wide Learning Disability Service.
We provide regular supervision and opportunities for continued professional development, with close support from the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist.
You will work from one of our Learning Disability Wiltshire bases in Chippenham, Warminster, Marlborough, or Salisbury. The team operates in a hybrid manner, with 60% of time expected to be worked from a base.

Due to the nature of this role, a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Be professionally accountable for a designated caseload of adults with learning disabilities, including those with profound and multiple disabilities and complex health needs, which may include challenging behaviour.
* Work as a key member of an integrated county-wide multidisciplinary team.
* Support and contribute to the development of the learning disability service in line with the objectives and principles of Valuing People Now 2009.
* Delegate and supervise the work of junior staff within the service.
* Assist the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist with prioritisation, planning, development, and delivery of a high-quality occupational therapy service, and deputise in their absence (e.g., attending meetings, responding to referrals, ensuring appropriate cover).

The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have:
* A Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Current HCPC registration
* Training in Sensory Integration (or willingness to undertake this training)
* BAOT/RCOT membership
* Membership of relevant Special Interest groups
* Postgraduate training evidence
* Leadership and management training
* Experience in teaching and assessing clinical practice
As travel is required, a driving license and access to a car are necessary.
