Looking for an enthusiastic General Practitioner for a FIXED TERM salaried role of up to 5 sessions a week UNTIL 28/02/2027. This is a FIXED TERM role, with the scope for increasing sessions and/or converting in to a permanent Salaried contract role.
The ideal candidate will be available to commence employment in August/September 2026, although an earlier start date would be welcomed where possible.
A range of regular clinical duties, including:
Face to face consultations.
Telephone consultation.
Duty Doctor responsibilities.
Routine follow-up (e.g.pathology, referrals, hospital correspondence, prescriptions).
Home visits.
Planned care/chronic disease management.
Involvement in practice-level clinical decision making.

The Hawthorns Surgery is a busy practice and is also an Undergraduate and Postgraduate training practice. The Hawthorns Surgery is a forward thinking practice but have fought hard to maintain a personal list system which research has proved to be best practice.

The practice has an exceptional clinical and non-clinical team with outstanding staff retention rates. The practice operates out of a purpose-built surgery, offering facilities to provide patient centred medicine supported by EMIS web (clinical system).
The surgery also provides in-house Minor Surgery, Physio (FCP) and Joint Injections services.
A strong support team is in place to deliver the service including Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescriber, Physician Associate, Clinical Coders/Scanners, Practice Secretaries, experienced and fully trained Reception team and a designated Prescription Clerks.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake a share of non-clinical duties within the practice, including:
Involvement/engagement with practice PCN duties/meetings
Participation in practice meetings (clinical and otherwise)
Involvement with practice-level administrative/business decision making
Involvement in service development and quality improvement
The role will involve engaging in all the regular duties of a GP, making professional and autonomous decisions where necessary, while being guided by overall practice policies, work streams, and procedures, consulting with senior GP colleagues for collective decision making where necessary, and all responsibilities associated within a GP working within primary care.
