Start Your Journey Supporting Young People Who Need You Most
Are you ready to make a real difference in a young person’s life—even if you’ve never worked in a school before?
We’re working with a specialist provision in Newcastle that supports pupils aged 7–16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. They’re looking for kind, calm, and committed individuals to step into trainee 1:1 roles—providing focused support for pupils who need consistency, encouragement, and understanding.
This role is ideal if you’re exploring a career in education, psychology, youth work, or social care. No formal experience is needed—just empathy, resilience, and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Supporting one pupil consistently throughout the school day
2. Building a positive relationship based on trust and encouragement
3. Helping them regulate emotions, engage in learning, and build confidence
4. Using strategies shared by teachers, SENCOs, and behaviour teams
5. Encouraging independence, progress, and participation in classroom routines
6. Celebrating the small steps that lead to lasting change
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need qualifications or school-based experience to apply. We’re looking for people who:
7. Are patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
8. Can adapt and respond to different needs and behaviours
9. Are ready to learn from experienced staff and take feedback on board
10. Believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued
If you have any background in youth work, coaching, care, or simply want to help others—you’re already bringing valuable skills to the role.
What You’ll Get with Protocol Education
11. Weekly pay through PAYE
12. FREE access to CPD, including behaviour and trauma-informed training
13. A personal consultant who understands SEMH and will support you throughout
14. Ongoing roles with schools that value care and connection as much as curriculum
15. Long-term progression routes into SEN support, mental health, or teaching careers
